AMD Fellow Sonu Arora is presenting on “AMD next generation 7nm RyzenTM 4000 APU”

Sonu’s Hot Chips presentation covers the AMD next generation x86 SOC, codenamed the “Renoir” APU. The 7nm process technology combined with eight “Zen 2” cores enables near 2X power efficiency when compared to the previous generation “Picasso” APU. “Renoir” is a full SoC including CPU, GPU, multimedia accelerators, and PC system connectivity. The on-die “Renoir” GPU is significantly optimized with >50% more performance per compute unit enabling a smaller higher performance engine. The SoC is optimized for power efficiency opening up additional headroom for CPU and GPU as well greatly enhanced low power states for improving battery life.
